So how does THE VASER® machine work?

1. VASER® melts fat.

   VASER® uses ultrasonic energy to melt fat before it is aspirated. This extra step before aspiration is incredibly important. This allows the surgeon to remove fat easily with minimal trauma.
   
   

2. VASER® targets only fat.

   By selectively melting only fat, the surgeon leaves blood vessels, nerves, and elastic tissues completely intact. This results in less bruising, less pain and tighter skin retraction than in other forms of lipo.

The LipoSculpture Procedure:

The procedure itself happens in three stages:

• Infiltration: After the patient is placed under anesthesia, incisions are made in inconspicuous locations. Targeted areas are infiltrated with a standard tumescent solution, composed of lidocaine and epinephrine. This prevents excess bleeding and serves as the contact medium between the VASER® produced sound waves and the targeted fat cells.
  
  
• Emulsification: Using the VASER® probes, Dr. Ernu de Villiers guides the ultrasonic energy through the layers of fat below the skin. As the probe passes through the tissue, it literally melts fat cells. The energy is low and controlled, so skin and other internal tissues are completely safe.
  
  
• Aspiration: With specialised hollow tools, called cannulas, the melted fat is then removed gently.

Q. Who can have VASER® LipoSculpture?

A. This procedure is designed for people who are in fairly decent shape or slightly overweight, not the obese. You must be in a good general state of health and must not be a smoker. Diabetes, heart or lung disease, or poor blood circulation may also contraindicate this procedure. VASER® LipoSculpture depends heavily on skin tightening for its excellent results. If your skin has lost too much elasticity, either due to aging or weight gain, Dr. Ernu de Villiers may recommend another procedure for you.
